No Separation

We tend to think of the mind and body as two separate and distinct entities. And we usually think of them as being at odds with each other. Not so much . . . they are in constant, cohesive rapport with one another, working in unison to create a wholly functioning human being. What happens to the mind happens to the body and what happens to body happens to the mind. There is no fundamental separation between the two.

Your brain is housed inside your body and is, therefore, part of the human body – not other than body, part of body! You can’t really have a brain without a body (unless you’re a mad scientist!).  And according to nutritionist, Nora T. Gedgaudas, “The mind (including memory and emotion) is not simply contained in the brain; the mind exists as a “field” through the entire human organism!

I love this sense of the mind as a field, rather than a thing hanging out in my brain! It feels so much more alive, vital, resilient and pulsing with life! And, knowing this helps me let go of the idea that there is some kind of internal war being waged so I can really feel myself as a unified, cooperative whole.

Take a quiet moment with this awareness that there is no separation between the body and the mind and that the mind, and innate intelligence, resides everywhere – in every organ and system in your body. Does this contemplation give you a sense of greater vitality? Does it make it easier to care for yourself?  Does it help you feel more whole?

It is my hope that this insight deepens your admiration and enjoyment of your exquisite human self.

To Your Body, Carol
