Pilates Exercise

Pilates reformer

Pilates exercise is a great way
to become aware of and in sync with
the way your body moves;
where its strength lies,
how it compensates for weakness
and how to bring it into a sense of balance.

Pilates exercise is designed to stabilize the torso, develop the low, deep abdominals and strengthen the mid-back muscles. This innovative work provides a great full-body workout that is gently vigorous, highly effective and encourages development of the body-mind connection. Pilates is intelligent movement that promotes body awareness while facilitating strength, flexibility and balance. These exercises are designed to help develop a strong, flexible body, enhance coordination, alignment, agility and joint stability.

From my studio in Lakewood, I primarily teach one-on-one on the Pilates equipment. I find this individualized work to be essential to Pilates. In order to receive the full benefit, Pilates must be done with precision and accuracy -- my undivided attention and ongoing feedback help you optimize the effects of this dynamic system of exercise. I am also able to design a program to fit your specific needs, both overall, and specific to each session. I provide a private setting of safety and fun where, together, we discover the intelligence of your body in motion.

I also teach small classes of the Pilates floor work, flexband and fitball. The class size is limited to 6 so I am still able to offer individual attention to each class participant and maintain an atmosphere of intimacy and safety.

Pilates exercise is the perfect answer
to a strong, flexible, balanced body.
